Hypnohead and tinyBuild have announced that The King is Watching is now available for PC via Steam. Players can pick up a copy of the roguelite kingdom builder for $13.49 through July 28th, when it returns to its normal $14.99 price point. For those who love to try before buying, a demo is available to give players a peek at what the game offers.
In addition to the demo, developers also sent out a release day trailer that showcases quirky gameplay and adorable graphics (yes, I said adorable and I stand by that!).
The King is Watching features
Ah, my glorious kingdom! A land where peasants toil, miners dig, and knights train… but only when I look at them! My gaze is law—progress thrives where I watch, but the moment I turn away? Laziness! Chaos! I must choose wisely: should I focus on the fields for food, the mines for riches, or the barracks for defense? With resources, I can even expand my all-seeing gaze, ensuring my kingdom flourishes… and that no one slacks off under my rule!
- RTS (aka Real-Time Staring): Your subjects only work when you watch them!
- Enemies at the gates: Defend your realm from goblins, dragons, vampires, and worse.
- Rule as one of Unique Kings! Each of the 7 Kings rules with unique powers: King Leo unlocks rare blueprints, King Spellus generates crystals to fuel magic, and King Alucard commands the undead back into battle!
- Adapt or perish: Face new bosses each run with unique tactics. Experiment with spells, artifacts, and blueprints to forge new builds.
- Crave a royal challenge? Activate Threat Levels, where enemies evolve and only your sharpest strategies will prevail!
The dev team has promised that future updates will be coming. The first announcement made is that more languages are coming soon. The team has plans to launch Japanese, Korean, French, Brazlian Portugues, and Polish in the coming months.
