Monster Hunter fans, get set. Capcom has thrown more fuel into the fire with the information about an update called Ver. 1.021, whose main avenue of attraction is to put new flavor into playing the Hunting Horn and Lance. This patch, due on August 13, is bringing back precious attention to these weapons after aging issues had sedated them for so long.
First of all, the Hunting Horn. If you have ever taken this strange instrument to the hunt, you know a few days must be allotted for the quirks. The biggest one? There is no option to Perfect Evade, so there is pain on dodging a monster attack. So Capcom fixed it with new moves and changes whereby the player can focus on attacking rather than trying to avoid. Some of these may be rather difficult for newcomers, but seasoned players will appreciate the depth. One player, Vice 🪶🎲⏳💎🎼❤️🔥, commented that the weapon still feels sluggish during high-difficulty hunts but it is at least getting some attention.
Then there is the Lance, whose buff has been pending forever. The update is to bring sweeping changes, damage buffs, and enhanced elemental scaling so that guarding will feel worth it and that Lance does not keep getting shoved back by monsters. Fran The WILD CEO of #Lance put it best: “A damage buff for lance. Finally. Thank you!”
On the other hand, people like TerrorOfDeath Casual Streamer sneered at the changes, especially after some weapons had been buffed. And then there was Searscale, still salty about foolish Lance skills like Quick Draw and Crit Draw. “We all know those skills and where they are better suited for. And it isn’t Lance 😅,” they joked.
Overall, the feeling is good, though. To fans like SgtPineapple, this is an opportunity to pull out from limbo and maybe convince some of their friends to give the Horn a shot. On the other hand, Neøcat is losing his goddamn mind over the new Super Armor of Hunting Horn.
What next? Well, the full patch notes will go into intricate details, and in the meantime, players are rallying for these downtrodden weapons. August 13 is a new birthday-to-be for either the Lance faithful or the Hunting Horn enthusiasts.
Worse comes to worse, though, remember that Monster Hunter is all about adaptation. So pull out your weapon, jump into the update, and see how it feels. You might just end up with a new main.
Now if only they’d at least fix that Triangle+Circle input for Hunting Horn… looking at you, John Maynard.
