With the new update and the four weeks of “Asteria Awakens,” the excitement is already unfolding for mythics, surprises, and loot selection voted on by players in Week 12, and the entire Internet is closing in.
Here comes the big reveal: The Oathbound Citadel! Far from just a mere Point of Interest, it’s a working fortress straight out of Chapter 4 with a little nod to “Asteria,” the codename for the Chapter 4 map by Fortnite. That is huge because Epic rarely gives this treatment of an internal codename. Players such as @realNumberSets were so aghast in their tweet: “Seeing the ch4 island codename in an official Fortnite tweet is wild.. in a good way.” And they’re right-it’s Fortnite literally stepping on its own toes breaking the fourth wall.
Why the fuss, though? Blitz Royale has quietly become the ever-so-popular mass favorite, with @EnksGaming blatantly stating, “I play Blitz Royale more than Battle Royale these days. It’s the best game mode you’ve added.” And now, with this, it is getting the full treatment on the Chapter 4 level. @Hallowedstone43 even called out for Epic to “LOCK THE FUCK IN AND HAVE ASTERIA BLITZ FLOATING LIKE THE ACTUAL CH.4 MAP.” The hype is real, indeed.
Maybe some of the haywire members might not be overjoyed listening to @bandit_evo: “So we ignoring chapter 3 huh,” or @general_kam stating the Chapter 1 map is still king. But come on, majority is probably begging for mythics. @AndrewHortonwi1 wants Attack and Titan mythics back; @itsmejayden04 is begging for augments, and @JonesyyMakes pleaded straight: “Undo Medallion nerf, we beg you😭🙏.” The desperation? Real palpable.
And then we have Week 12… The “YOU choose the loot” twist. Chaos is already fomenting in the replies. @Finleypanda999 wants Hoprock Dual Pistols; @RoboJars rallied for the Lazarbeam Flint, while @agent_Dovydas? Wants just Naruto. So classic. Meanwhile, @SirSn1perx_x is praying for “ERA RESKIN” when Asteria fully awakens. It’s crazy beautiful.
Oh, and the bugs? Per @uhcip86, it was a joke at first, “Oh is that why the game stopped working for me,” because of course, a major update runs with glitches. But hey, that’s Fortnite—always keeping us on our toes.
Bottom line? This update’s a W. For the mythics, map nostalgia, or just chaotic player voting, Blitz Royale just got itself a massive upgrade. Now, if you can please excuse us, we’re off to spam-drop at Oathbound Citadel while pretending we can play.
