CD Projekt Red hosted its very first Cyberpunk 2077 Photo Mode Contest with style, cars, and vibes at stake. This whole idea speaks to the famous saying, “You Are What You Drive!” So if you have spent the days cruising through Night City in your snazzy ride, this is your time to bring all that snazzy energy to light. And why not bring some NPCs along for the ride? Into glamourous shots? Submit an entry, win some great in-game goodies.
Online scrutiny, as expected, is divided into different camps, given the digital world that has been eternally relentless. Some players, in their excitement, shared their glitziest in-game selfies, with Johnny Silverhand photobombing them. Others will rather not be pleased with yet another Photo Mode update since there are still things like New Game+ or a mission creator that are being held for.
@RawCyberHub summed it up well, showing love and frustration at the same time: “Photomode is the new game meta for modern gaming… This game is one of my favs but some ppl just have that toxic positivity in them. I just want them to focus on Cyberpunk 2077 part 2 or whatever. This update is bland..” Oof.
@SkywalkerMcFly_ was a little more harsh in his remarks: “A game about hacking, guns, weapon mods, gangs, corporate espionage, political espionage, & secret agencies is focused on car colors & in game selfies 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂” Nothing is more ironic.
And for those players who certainly aren’t bitter, there are some insane screenshots being posted. For example, @CanadianZarPics uploaded the cinematic masterpiece with the caption “Good luck everyone!” While @obiwanmama responded with, “Selfie tiiime 🤳🔥 on ittt.”
The usual gamer complaints and nitpicking went along the lines of @Faraway252 complaining about the bike: “That white/grey wheel is so ugly.” It was almost as if @KvasirW was saying, “Fix the Xbox series x version of the game”-now that is a priority in my book.
No glum here, though, as some players are already sharing incredible shots, like one of many from @CanadianZarPics, who showed off a cinematic shot captioned “Good luck everyone!” and followed up with @obiwanmama saying, “Selfie tiiime 🤳🔥 on ittt.”
Now, entering the Discord drama: several players pointed out that the link attached to the contest details leads to a 404.error. @Valomir and @Photomode_Raro complained, the latter posting a screenshot while saying, “Unfortunately your Discord channel link doesn’t work.” Smooth move, CDPR.
So, what is the verdict? If you are into virtual photography, this contest is your jam. If you are holding out for bigger updates? Well… maybe go replay the game and take some sick pics while you wait. Either way, Night City has never looked better-even if a few of its denizens remain a little salty.
Here’s the full contest information. Contesters might want to verify that Discord link first.
